Former Park Superintendent Paul Lange passed away

Paul Arthur Lange of Calgary and Canmore, Alberta, died peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017, surrounded by his family. He inhabited the planet with great equanimity for 95 years. Paul was born on May 5, 1921 on a farm in Winterburn, Alberta, the youngest of 13 children and is the last of his siblings. Paul spent his career working for Parks Canada, where he was a passionate conservationist. He retired in 1983 as superintendent of Banff National Park. Later, Paul stayed active as a realtor and was an active volunteer for the Liberal Party, the Kerby Centre and the Rotary Club. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Paul is survived by his children Jan Hrabec, Bruce (Kathleen) and Pat Lange; his grandchildren Eden and Wyatt Hrabec, and Val Lange (Jacob Simpson). Paul was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, to whom he was married for 65 years. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. A private family ceremony will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In living memory of Paul Lange, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
