Lovely story by Mike Carleton about their relationship with Castle Mountain. For a brief period in the late 1950’s we were the Carleton’s closest neighbours, my dad Glen Brook being the district warden at Marble Canyon in Kootenay NP. My dad had known Ed before their warden service life ,as they had both serviced in the Calgary Highlanders overseas together. My dad would tell stories of snow shoeing to Castle, when the Kootenay road was closed in the winter, to pick up provisions sent out on CP Rail, often staying overnight with the Carletons. Our family later moved to Yoho NP, but remained in contact with the Carleton’s for the rest of their lives.
