Good day, all.

On behalf of the Park Warden Service Alumni Society’s Board of Directors I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

And to those who do not celebrate Christmas, we wish everyone Season’s Greetings and a safe and healthy new year.

2024 was an interesting year for PWSAS. We were able to complete a number of oral histories with the total number standing at 117.  We received a couple of substantial donations from members, which will help significantly funding future interviews. Darryl Grams, George Peat and Eric Bell are to be thanked for being so generous with their recent donations.

In 2024 we did not receive any funding from the Alberta government, so what we accomplished in the oral history project was directly from the funds our members pay for membership and donations. Thanks to all who have paid the membership fee and to many of you who have provided donations.

We have made another attempt to obtain funding for the Oral History Project from the federal government’s oral history grant program. We will keep our fingers crossed that we are successful. We still have a large number of retired and former Park Wardens and Resource Conservation personnel who need to be interviewed before that history is lost.

We will be holding another mini reunion in the spring in Nanton, Alberta. Stay tuned for information about the upcoming event.

I would be remiss in not noting that after many years, Don Mickle has decided to give up his chair on the PWSAS Board of Directors. Don, many thanks for your great support over the years for the organization.

To all our members, your continued support of the Park Warden Service Alumni and the Oral History Project is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

David Reynolds, President
