Alan Westhaver’s summary of the reunion.
This year’s reunion was a terrific success and a joyous occasion for all who
attended”. It was huge fun, non-stop conversation and laughter. Best of all, I
believe everyone left happy, and anxious for next year. Seventy-one alumni
members (including spouses) were in attendance for the Beans & Burgers
dinner on Thursday afternoon and at the evening concert by The Wardens”.
Thus, our total attendance eclipsed past participation.
There were thirty-three (33) full time campers, while others took advantage of
hotel/motel or B&B accommodation. The large open picnic shelter and adjacent
lawns provided a good focal point for socializing, and people took time to visit
local trails along the lakeshore and forest reserves for hikes, birding, and sight-
seeing.
Thank you to Cheryl Sheehan provided ALL the coffee to keep reunion
participants well-fueled during the 4-day event (i.e. 100 – 150 cups/day in total.
Thank you to Evelyn Gilmar (Banff) provided 10 dozen beautiful farm fresh
eggs for the Thursday pancake breakfast. Thank you to the many,
many people who volunteered in order to help set up, prepare, and clean up
after each of the meals and activities scheduled during the reunion. The
Tuesday evening pizza social (Little “B” s Pizzeria) and the “Pot Luck” supper
on Wednesday were very successful.
The Salmon Arm Elks Club and their hosts were fully supportive and helpful in
providing open access to their campground and concert hall facilities.
