We received this note from Wayne Coggins
It is with great sadness that, former National Park Warden and Alberta Forestry Protection officer Frank Coggins passed away in Sundre hospital May 26, 2022. Born in Jasper and raised in Brule, Frank was the son of a long time Alberta Forestry officer, and spent many decades working with horses in the upper Red Deer river valley. He worked at the Ya Ha Tinda ranch in the 1950’s, and after retirement from the National Park Warden Service, was the Provincial Forestry guardian host at the ranch campground. He was responsible for the building of the patrol cabin and horse campground at Eagle creek, as well as trail maintenance both on and off the ranch. He later worked with horses for Sunset campground and outfitters in the Panther River area. His warden service career included work in Banff, Kootenay, Wood Buffaloe, and Waterton National Parks, retiring in 1987. He packed for trail crews, and worked at the Banff sawmill. Frank is survived by his wife Colleen, and sons Jason (Belinda) and Wayne (Jeff), and grand daughter Laine.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cards of condolence can be sent to Colleen and family

I worked with Frank in Waterton in the 70’s and last saw him on the Dog Rib between the Panther River and the Ya Ha Tinda in the 90’s. I always enjoyed working with him. I knew Colleen when I was in Waterton and had Christmas dinner with the family in 1974. I never forgot that.
