Gordon H. Anderson, 81, of Valemount, BC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home on the land he loved.

Gordon was born on August 15, 1943, in Bjorkdale, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of ten children. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; his son, Travis (Courtney); his daughter, Rundi; and his granddaughters, Keslin and Isadora. He is also survived by his brother, Norval; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Coranne; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He loved the community that formed on the land.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Emil and Thea; his brothers, Vernon (Loraine), Willard (Donalda), and Raymond; and his sisters, Ruth (Arne), Marilyn (Harry), Joyce (Morley), Anita (Peter), and Joanne (Dale).

Family was always Gord’s first priority. He also had a deep love for rodeo, hockey, reading, and observing nature. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the companionship of many animals—horses, dogs, and cats alike. He had a 28-year career as a National Park Warden through the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s—the glory years. A mentor to many, he offered steady support and quiet guidance.

Gordon was fortunate to enjoy a long and happy retirement with his life partner, Sharon, on their beloved land for 27 years. He was the foundation of our family—a source of endless love, wisdom, and kindness. We are deeply grateful for the love and support we’ve received during this difficult time. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages, made phone calls, shared food, and visited since his passing.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at 225 Jack Adams Road. Gather at noon, and bring a chair, a mug (for water, coffee, or beer), and a story to share. Food will be served.

We will close with one of Gord’s favorite quips:

“Talk low, talk slow, and don’t say too much.
