Steve Cooper a National Park Warden from 1971 to 1979 at Pacific Rim, Wood Buffalo and Nahanni, passed away February 7, 2025 in Whitehorse. Steve and his wife Myrielle worked and travelled through out the north settling in Whitehorse in 1983, where he established his Tutshi Tanning Fur and Leather business. Steve was well known by hunters, trappers, First Nations and anyone in search of home tanned or commercial tanned fur and leather. His smoked home tanned leather became a popular item, even sought on occasion by museums. Steve oversaw the construction of the Deadman Valley warden patrol cabin on the Nahanni River as well as two log homes he built for his family in Whitehorse. An old-time park warden at heart, Steve will be missed by his family and friends. Rest in peace.
