It is with heavy hearts that the families of Harold Clayton Payne announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Pt, NL, on Thursday, May 2nd, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife; Marjorie nee Starkes of 58 years marriage, his daughters; Cathy Payne, Paula Pittman (Colin), and Debbie Payne, his grandchildren; Scott Pittman, Christa Blanchard (Travis), Jordan Davis (Jen), Katelyn Davis, Celeste Reid (Michael), and Brady Reid, his great grandchildren; Ryder Pittman, Aleaha Blanchard, and Aiden Blanchard, his sisters; Hughena Brown (Con), Thelma Kassis (Bill), and Janice Gallagher (Stu), his brothers; Adrian Payne (Carol), and Melvin Payne (Rose Marie), his sister-in-law; Lieut- Colonel Marie Goulding, brother-in-law; Henry Starkes (Connie), and loving and caring friends and neighbors; Jim and Pearl Fotheringham, and Greveatte and Beatrice Brown. Harold was predeceased by his parents; Lucy and Jack Payne, his sisters; Violet Hewlin (George), Ula Stuckless (George), Bride Payne (Manuel), and Rachel Payne (Freeman), his mother and father-in-law; Deborah and Gordan Starkes, his brothers-in-law; Don Starkes, Albert Starkes, and Lieut- Colonel Boyd Goulding. Also leaving a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.

The family will be receiving family and friends at St. Mary’s the Virgin Anglican Church in Cow Head, NL, on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 from the hours of 7-9 pm, and continuing on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm, where also the funeral service will take place from on Monday, May 6th, 2019 at 3:00 pm, with Canon Terry Rose officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of the church cemetery in Cow Head, NL.

Harold joined the Canadian Army forces, in the Signal’s Corps in July 24th, 1958 and became a Sergeant and went on many UN Peace Keeping Missions till he retired in October 7th, 1978, and then he became a Park Warden with Gros Morne Park, in Rocky Hr, NL.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Mary’s the Virgin Anglican Cemetery fund, in Cow Head, NL. And or to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, in Harold’s memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
